EA Civil War Campaign Mission 5 : Diagnosis and treatment BRIEFING : ( hold by Hague ) ------------------------------------ Command Briefing : ( hold by Hague ) The whole Earth Alliance is shocked by Santiago's death, and the Raiders are trying to benefit from the situation. However, they feel the pressure and they have started to attack supply depots in this sector to prevent us from pursuing them. We are trying to keep pace and to draw them into ambushes. Other EA ships will move in , but I have chosen to help in the defense of the station "Hawking". The key is that another EA vessel is hurrying in the defense of this station. It's the Midwinter Cruiser Clarkstown , the last vessel Earthforce One had contact with before it exploded at Io. (b5.1) Mission Briefing: (1) Trainor : Alright. Well , we know each other. I am Bill Trainor, the Alexander's 2nd Officer. OK, listen up guys . Alpha wing will be Hale , Geezer, Spawn and Balrok. (b5.16) The Mission : -------------------- Setting: - CETI Jumpgate - EA wheel station "Hawking" - 2 freighters docking at it or nearby - EAS Alexander - Alpha Wing ( 4 starfuries : you , Geezer , Spawn , Balrok) (all 3 wingmen INV) - Beta Wing ( 4 starfuries ) - flying close escort for Alexander - Raiders ( Zephyrs , several ships ) (STB) - see mission description - Midwinter class cruiser EAS Clarkstown - Gamma squad ( 2*6 badgers ) -- You start with Alpha wing patrolling the system. The Jumpgate is at a fair distance -- and the station and 2 civil freighters are nearby. The Alexander is also close to -- the Hawking station. You are flying around... Hague: Alpha wing , stay sharp. Stay close to the station and the freighters. So far we have nothing on our scanners. (5.1) Hague: We can't pick up the telemetry of the jumpgate's sensor array, that means it gets jammed. We won't be able to pick up RADAR echos of incoming ships, so be on the lookout. Hope the Raiders fry this damned ship! (5.15) Spawn: Jimmy, control yourself ! Especially on stellarcom ! Remember , You are an anonymous pilot of Alpha Wing ! (5.16) Spawn: And you should be glad the general didn't hear that. He and the captain were at the academy together. Don't you see that the Clarkstown's crew might not know anything about the assassination, no matter what the ship was ordered to transport ? (5.17) Trainor: *strictly* Mr. Brightman ! (5.20) -- The Alexander jumps out Balrok: Keep your eyes open, they could arrive at any second. (5.21) -- after a while ( 30-60 sec - (STB)): -- The Hyperspace Jumpgate gets activated and several waves of Zephyrs storm the scene -- It will be up to the mission designer to balance things out . it should be a tough -- fight. Objectives are to protect the wheel station and and the freighters. Spawn: Here we go ! (5.22) Geezer: Raiding party coming through the Jumpgate ! (5.23) -- incoming waves should keep the player busy. After a few minutes (STB) -- the Hyperion Cruiser EAS Clarkstown jumps in, directly near the -- station. CLARKSTOWN: This is the Earth Alliance Cruiser Clarkstown. Alpha Wing , we have come to help you. (5.24) Spawn: Roger Clarkstown. Welcome to Hawking station. (5.25) CLARKSTOWN: We are lauching Gamma Wing to help. Alpha Wing, your starfuries are faster than our badgers. We will provide close cover for the freighters while you fight the Raiders off. (5.26) -- Gamma wing consists of 12 Badgers. The Raiders shouldn't stand a chance against those -- odds. The Raiders should stop their attack fast. Spawn: Grand Slam ! Nice work people ! Enemy fighters destroyed. (5.27) -- after 20 secs (STB) Balrok: Ah ! I am picking up energy signatures, the Alexander is coming in. (5.28) -- The EAS Alexander jumps in Trainor: EA vessels , we are back. (5.29) Balrok: Roger Alexander ! Back so soon ? However , you are too late, the show is over. (5.30) Trainor: We lost the freighter. The Raiders were all over the place when we arrived. We came too late. And we couldn't prevent them from escaping afterwards. (5.31) Trainor: Alpha wing , The Clarkstown and the Alexander will now pick up supplies from Hawking station. Provide fighter cover for the shuttles carrying them. (5.32) Hague: Cmdr Hale , this is an encoded transmission. You know what to do. Make a discrete scan of the Clarkstown and of the shuttle OSIR. (5.33) -- 2 Atmospheric shuttles are launching from Hawking station. The shuttle "Osir" flies to -- the Clarkstown, the shuttle "Nepan" heads for the Alexander. They dock for a while and -- fly back. You have to scan the CLARKSTOWN and the Osir -- After you scanned one of the vessels: Trainor: Scanning complete. (5.34) -- after both ships are scanned: Hague: Excellent , Lt.Cmdr ! We have the scanning data. After the shuttles have returned to Hawking station you are free to land. (5.35) -- after both shuttles have returned -- mission end possible now when appoaching Alexanders fighter bay. Trainor: Resupply operation complete. Area secured. All fighters, return to base. (5.36) Geezer: Roger that Alexander. Boys, we really deserve our payment. (5.37) Spawn: Geezer, no wonder Shadow was pissed. You talk too much. Alexander, we are coming in. (5.38) -- Mission ends when approaching Alexander ---------------------------- Mission Debriefing : ( hold by Hague ) Good work, Cmdr . The station is safe. We have analyzed the scanning data of the Clarkstown. The ship carried technical components used for hyperspace transmitters. These components could have been used to jam the channels at Io station. We will investigate this further.
